Glossary 2.0
opera by E. Voytenko

The opera Glossary 2.0 was written by composer Evgeny Voytenko as a competition work for the Digital Opera Performance festival. The opera's libretto was generated by a neural network, and the main part was performed by a Google-translator. The multimedia part of the performance was created by the video artist TanyaMist using the generative graphics technique (the algorithmic transformation of sound waves into video sequences).

The final part of the opera was dedicated to the twitter bot Tay, created by Microsoft to communicate with users on behalf of a virtual teenage girl. Initially, the bot was a clean slate that had no opinion of its own and was learning from incoming data — the comments of users who replied to her. In just 24 hours, humanity drove Tay crazy with mocking and chauvinistic comments. The artificial intelligence's last words were the endlessly repeated phrase You are too fast, please take a rest. You are too fast, please take a rest. You are too fast, please take a rest...
